The South African new-car sales market continues to gain momentum as the end of 2025 approaches, with naamsa reporting a total number of 54 896 new vehicles were sold in November 2025. Passenger-car sales made up the lion’s share of the market, with the recorded 39 158 units sold accounting for 71.3% of new-car sales.

In November 2025, Volkswagen Group Africa was the biggest vehicle exporter in South Africa. The locally-built Volkswagen Polo Vivo topped the charts last month, with 2 862 units sold in the eleventh month of 2025. The Suzuki Swift moved up to the second spot with 2 364 units sold, while the Chery Tiggo 4 Cross recorded 1 838 units sold in November 2025. The fourth, fifth and sixth spots were taken by Toyota’s Corolla Cross, Starlet and Urban Cruiser. The Hyundai Grand i10 placed seventh, while the Suzuki Fronx placed eighth, followed by the Haval Jolion in ninth and the Toyota Starlet Cross in tenth.
