Toyota Gazoo Racing unleashes GR Yaris Morizo RR edition

A special-edition GR Yaris was created with Toyota Motor Corporation Chairman and Master Driver Akio Toyoda, aka Morizo, at the Nürburgring. Only 100 examples will be initially made.

Toyota Gazoo Racing has announced a special edition of the GR Yaris, the Morizo RR, which was developed with Toyota Motor Corporation Chairman and Master Driver Akio Toyoda, aka Morizo, at the Nürburgring. Toyoda’s insights come from competing in the 2025 Nürburgring 24 Hours endurance race as a Toyota Gazoo Rracing Rookie (TGGR).

Revealed at the 2026 Tokyo Auto Salon, the GR Yaris Morizo RR is equipped with the carmaker’s Direct Automatic Transmission (DAT), the same eight-speed unit equipped to the “standard” GR Yaris automatic we sampled at the local launch event in 2025 and racing-spec GR Yaris with which CAR’s Kyle Kock competed in the 2025 Toyota GR Cup. However, the limited edition has received some model-specific upgrades, such as an uprated suspension and bespoke 4WD mode – ‘Morizo’ – which replaces the ‘Gravel’ setting. ‘Morizo’ mode sets front/rear initial torque and driving force distribution at a 50:50 split.

The GR Yaris Morizo RR’s bodywork is finished in ‘Gravel Khaki’, Morizo’s favoured colour, with brake callipers and interior accents painted in his signature ‘Yellow’. The bonnet and roof-mounted rear wing are fashioned from carbon fibre. All upgrades are inspired by Morizo’s learnings while competing in the hot hatch at the 2025 Nürburgring 24 Hours.

The 1.6-litre, three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine remains unchanged. It produces 210 kW at 6 500 r/min, with the full complement of torque – 400 N.m – delivered to all four corners between 3 250 and 4 600 r/min.

Available in Japan through purchasing lottery applications via the GR app, only 100 examples will be built. However, the special-edition Toyota will soon be available in some European markets.
