WeBuyCars drops Dekra vehicle condition reports for own Inspectify inspection service
WeBuyCars has dropped Dekra Automotive, an independent vehicle inspection and certification company who initially provided vehicle condition reports to WeBuyCars, for its own newly-established inspection service, Inspectify.

WeBuyCars has announced the launch of Inspectify, a newly-established WeBuyCars subsidiary that replaces Dekra Automotive as vehicle inspection service for this South African pre-owned vehicle buyer and seller. However, although a subsidiary of the company, the firm says Inspectify operates independently and will expand its services and operations under the guidance of an independent management team and board.
Speaking to Moneyweb, WeBuyCars’ sales director, Janson Ponting, said the company’s decision to drop Dekra in favour of Inspectify is because the latter uses “better” technology and delivers “improved” reports from a technological perspective. And according to Ponting, the Dekra reports were “difficult” to understand. “The technology Inspectify has incorporated gives customers much more information than before, and a complete picture of what they’re buying,” said the company.

The company further says Inspectify’s advantage lies in a locally developed system that has been designed for “consistency, clarity and South African conditions”. Ponting also noted that using Inspectify is another way for the company to differentiate itself from other pre-owned vehicle companies.
As a reminder, in December 2025, WeBuyCars reached a settlement of nearly R6 million – divided between a R2.5 million fine and over R3.4 million in refunds to be paid to 31 affected customers – with the National Consumer Commission (NCC). This came after the NCC received several complaints that WeBuyCars had failed to provide sales agreements-based remedies with customers. And following an investigation, the NCC found that the company’s terms and conditions of sales agreements contravened the Consumer Protection Act (CPA).
