In June 2025, Mercedes-AMG whipped the wraps off the Concept AMG GT XX, a design study with which the German marque previewed a future high-performance four-door model…likely the next AMG GT 4-Door Coupé. Essentially the series-production version of the “pioneering” concept, the Affalterbach automaker has officially unveiled the new AMG GT 4-Door Coupé.
The AMG GT 4-Door Coupé was revealed in two guises: GT 55 and GT 63. Both models are equipped with three of the firm’s so-called axial flux motors, which produce combined system outputs of 600 kW/1 800 N.m in the GT 55 and 860 kW/2 000 N.m in the GT 63. Power is delivered to the road via an all-wheel drivetrain. In AMGFORCE S+ driver’s setting, the powertrain produces an augmented V8 soundtrack and features simulated gear shifts.
Mercedes-AMG says these figures allow the GT 55 to complete the 0-100 km/h sprint in 2.8 seconds, before breaching the 200 km/h marker 6.2 seconds later, at 9.0 seconds. The GT 63 dispatches the 0-100 km/h dash in a claimed 2.4 seconds, and the 0-200 km/h in 6.8 seconds. Both models top out at 300 km/h when specified with the Drivers Package.
For comparison, the previous GT 63 S 4-Door Coupé equipped with the firm’s (470 kW/900 N.m) 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 completes the obligatory 0-100 km/h sprint in a claimed 3.2 seconds, while the (620 kW/1 470 N.m) GT 63 S E Performance plug-in hybrid (PHEV) reaches the 100 km/h marker from a standstill in a claimed 2.9 seconds.
The e-motors are fed by a Formula 1-derived 800 V battery, which provides an operating range of up to 700 km in the GT 55 and 696 km in the GT 63. Mercedes-AMG says a 10-80% DC fast charge takes only 11 minutes, with a 10-minute charge at such a facility adding 460 km of range.
Based on the carmaker’s AMG.EA platform, the AMG GT 4-Door Coupé measures 5 094 mm in length and 1 959 mm in width; making it 40 mm longer and 20 mm wider than its forebear. The wheelbase is longer, too – 3 040 vs 2 951 mm. The EV has a kerb weight of 2 460 kg – an increase of 413 kg over the ICE-only GT 63 S 4-Door Coupé. However, it weights slightly less (down 38 kg) than the GT 63 S E Performance PHEV.
