Audi has officially unveiled the new Q7, with the third generation sporting the German marque’s latest design language, a tech-laden interior, and a V6 turbocharged diesel engine incorporating mild-hybrid tech.

The box-fresh Q7’s 3.0-litre V6 turbodiesel powertrain is available in two states of tune: 180 kW/500 N.m and 220 kW/630 N.m. As mentioned, the internal combustion engine (ICE) is paired with Audi’s MHEV plus technology, an “advanced” 48 V mild-hybrid setup providing up to 18 kW and 370 N.m of boost for short durations. The system also assists in throttle response through an electric compressor. Power is exclusively delivered to the road via the Ingolstadt automaker’s quattro all-wheel drivetrain – latter coupled with an eight-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission – featuring a new limited-slip centre diff with preload. Audi quotes provisional combined fuel consumption figure of 7.1 to 8.0 L/100 km.

As standard, the new Q7 ships with a steel spring suspension setup. However, adaptive air suspension and the firm’s adaptive air suspension sport setup with controlled damping can be specified at additional cost.

Stepping inside, the Q7 is available in five-, six- and seven-seater configurations. All pews are electrically adjustable. The five-seater offers a claimed boot capacity of 806 litres, which increases to 2 075 litres when folding down the second row of seats. The seven-seater offers 722 litres of boot space behind the second row and 1 980 litres for utility purposes when the latter is stowed.

The company’s latest MMI panoramic display takes pride of place on the facia. The setup comprises three screens, for instrumentation, infotainment and front passenger, respectively. A head-up display is available as an option.

A suite of driver assistance systems are included with the package. The latter includes adaptive driving assistant plus, lane guidance and orientation lights, advanced turn signals, a trained parking feature, and reverse assist.

“For more than 20 years, the Audi Q7 has represented the perfect premium SUV. With its new generation, we carry this mission forward. It combines a sporty, powerful design with a highly versatile interior, first-class materials, and a wide range of technologies,” said Audi CEO Gernot Döllner. “The flexible seating with up to seven seats, the large panoramic sunroof for a spacious feel, and high-quality, harmoniously coordinated materials underscore its premium status. Its confident performance, powered by a robust drivetrain featuring MHEV plus technology and quattro all-wheel drive, makes the new Q7 a versatile all-rounder for business, family, and leisure.”
