Changan has confirmed the Nevo Q05 battery-electric vehicle (BEV) is heading to South Africa in the future. The Nevo Q05 employs a dual electric-motor setup, mated with a 51.9 kWh battery pack. The electric motors produce a combined 120 kW and 190 N.m of torque, delivered to the road via all four corners. Changan claims a top speed of 160 km/h.
The interior features a dedicated instrument cluster and a large, facia-mounted infotainment screen. Some physical shortcut buttons for the climate control and a wireless smartphone charging tray can be found on the centre console. This Changan also features a column-mounted drive selector. The Nevo Q05 is likely to rival the BYD Atto 3 and the upcoming Jaecoo J5 EV.
Changan Nevo Q05 SA launch date
Changan has said the Nevo Q05 is expected to arrive in SA in the second quarter of 2027. Pricing and specifications will be confirmed closer to local introduction, though the company has mentioned it is trying to price the Nevo Q05 at a considerably more affordable price point than the Deepal S07. This isn’t the only new Changan EV heading to SA, however. Indeed, the brand has also confirmed the Lumin as an affordable EV for our market.
As a reminder, the Deepal S07, which is exclusively available in L spec in SA, is equipped with a single electric motor producing 160 kW and 320 N.m of torque. The e-motor is coupled with an 80 kWh battery pack. The S07 L offers a claimed operating range of up to 560 km when fully charged and completes 0-100 km/h sprint in a claimed 7.9 seconds.
