Positioned as the new entry point in the local Tiggo 7 range, Chery has introduced the Distinction Dark Edition, which brings with it “a series of exterior and interior changes”. On the outside, this model features a black front grille and window surrounds, as well as black 18-inch alloy wheels. Rear privacy glass is also included. The dark theme continues to the interior, with black synthetic leather upholstery and matching detailing. The steering wheel, with rake-and-reach adjustment, is also trimmed in synthetic leather. This derivative is available in four new colours, namely Khaki White, Carbon Black, Phantom Grey, and a two-tone Black and White.

As standard, this derivative also features 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment, replete with smartphone screen mirroring, a six-speaker sound system, reverse-view camera, rear park distance sensors, tyre pressure monitoring, and an electrically operated tailgate. The Distinction Dark Edition is equipped with seven airbags.

Priced from R415 900, the Distinction Dark Edition is R14 000 less expensive than the previous entry-level variant. Included in the price are a five-year/150 000 km warranty and a five-year/75 000 km service plan. First owners also benefit from Chery’s 10-year/1 million km engine warranty, the balance of which can be transferred to the second owner through the automaker’s Cherished pre-owned programme.

The Tiggo 7 Distinction Dark Edition is equipped with a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine. The four-cylinder unit produces 108 kW and 210 N.m of torque, delivered to the front wheels via a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission – the latter replacing the previously employed CVT.

We have rounded up the top ten most dependable car brands based on a recent study by J.D. Power, ranking vehicle reliability based on the number of problems per 100 vehicles. Power has recently released its 2026 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study, which identifies the most dependable vehicles based on overall problems per 100 vehicles during the first 90 days of ownership over nine problem categories. The 2026 results show a two-point increase in problems per 100 vehicles (PP100), resulting in an industry average of 204 PP100.
