iCaur V27 set for SA debut at 2026 Festival of Motoring

The iCaur V27 large SUV is set to make its SA debut at the 2026 Festival of Motoring. Here’s what you can expect from this Chery sub-brand’s flagship model.

Chery new-energy vehicle (NEV) sub-brand iCaur has announced the V27 will make its local debut at the 2026 Festival of Motoring, with pre-orders for the Chinese automaker’s flagship SUV opening at the time of the event. The 2026 Festival of Motoring will take place from 28-30 August at Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit.

Positioned at the top of iCaur’s local lineup, which comprises the characterful V23, which we sampled in 2WD format in Cape Town in June 2026, and T03 all-electric SUVs. However, compared to the former and latter, the V27 will employ an REEV (range-extended electric vehicle) powertrain.

The V27’s REEV setup comprises two electric motors – sited at the front and rear, respectively – and a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged petrol internal combustion engine (ICE). The ICE serves as a generator for the 34.3 kWh battery pack, which offers a claimed electric-only operating range of 150 km. iCaur claims a combined driving range of “more than” 1 000 km.

In terms of power, the V27 is endowed with a combined 339 kW. According to the Wuhu brand, this figure allows the all-paw large SUV to complete the 0-100 km/h sprint in 5.0 seconds.

The V27’s boxy bodywork measures 5 045 mm in length (including the tailgate-mounted spare wheel) and 1 976 mm in width – dimensions comparable to the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado. The V27 stands 1 894 mm tall, with a wheelbase spanning 2 900 mm.

Stepping inside, the V27’s interior plays host to such items as 15.4-inch touchscreen infotainment, a 15-speaker audio system, heated and ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, and dual sunroofs. iCaur says the cabin features 50 storage compartments.

We have rounded up the top ten most dependable car brands based on a recent study by J.D. Power, ranking vehicle reliability based on the number of problems per 100 vehicles. Power has recently released its 2026 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study, which identifies the most dependable vehicles based on overall problems per 100 vehicles during the first 90 days of ownership over nine problem categories.
