LDV T60 Utility arrives as sub-R300k single-cab bakkie

Billed as a commercial workhorse prioritising durability and load capacity, LDV South Africa has bolstered its local bakkie portfolio with the introduction of the T60 Utility. At launch, the T60 Utility is one of the most affordable bakkies in the segment.

The LDV T60 Utility is available in two body styles: single-cab and double-cab. The T60 Utility Single Cab’s bodywork measures 5 395 mm long, 1 900 mm wide, and 1 830 mm tall, with a wheelbase spanning 3 155mm. The T60 Utility Double Cab measures 5 365 mm in length, 1 900 mm in width, and between 1 809 mm and 1 840 mm in height. The double-cab’s wheelbase is identical to the single-cab’s.

The T60 Utility employs a 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine, which churns out 120 kW and 410 N.m of torque. The four-cylinder unit is coupled with a six-speed manual transmission. Both 4×2 and 4×4 drivetrains are available. LDV claims the T60 Utility returns 7.5 and 8.7 L/100 km in motorway and urban driving, respectively. The new model features a 73-litre fuel tank. The payload and braked towing capacities are rated at up to 1 170 kg and 3 000 kg, respectively.

Standard items include Bluetooth connectivity and air conditioning.  In terms of safety, the T60 Utility features two airbags (for the driver and front passenger, respectively) and ABS with EBD.

The LDV T60 Utility Single Cab is priced from R299 900 for the two-wheel-drive variant and R358 900 for the 4×4 derivative. The LDV T60 Utility Double Cab starts from R389 900 and R429 900 for the 4×2 and 4×4 variants, respectively. Pricing includes a five-year/200 000 km warranty and five-year/100 000 km service plan as standard.
