Eskort has partnered with Checkers and Toyota to launch its Braai-Lux campaign, where South Africans are given the opportunity to win a customised new Hilux. The Braai-Lux was designed to celebrate South Africa’s braai culture. Two-time Rugby World Cup-winning Springbok Bongi Mbonambi, who is an ambassador for Eskort, will join the winner for an exclusive braai experience.
Sponsored by Toyota and customised by Halfway Toyota Honeydew and Ironman 4×4, the Braai-Lux is equipped with a Megamaster grill, dual fridge/freezer, a roller drawer system, Bossenberg canopy, a Dometic roof rack, and a 270-degree awning. The package further includes a full front bull bar, spotlights, a suspension kit, and off-road tyres sponsored by Tyremart. The cabin features custom Takla seat covers, dashboard cover, and carpets.
Based on the Hilux 2.8GD-6 4×4 Double Cab Raider, which is priced from R892 900, the Braai-Lux employs the Japanese automaker’s proven 2.8-litre, four-cylinder turbodiesel engine. Equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission, the 2.8GD-6 unit produces 150 kW and 500 N.m of torque, delivered to the road via a part-time 4×4 drivetrain.
How to win a Braai-Lux
To enter the competition, all you have to do is purchase any participating Eskort product at Checkers in-store or on Sixty60 and swipe your Xtra Savings card. Each qualifying purchase earns an entry into the competition. The competition runs until 22 November 2026.
“Eskort has been part of South African braais for generations, so this campaign gives us the opportunity to put our brand right at the centre of one of the country’s most loved traditions,” said Eskort CEO Arnold Prinsloo. “As a strong retail partner, Checkers gives us incredible reach, Toyota brings an iconic South African vehicle to the idea, and Bongi brings an authenticity and personality that make the experience even more special. Together, we have created something that feels unmistakably Eskort and unmistakably South African.” Prinsloo added, “This mix of three iconic brands, braai’ing and Bongi is the ultimate South African combination, and we’re excited about the conversations and cultural connections that are springing from the campaign.”
