SA company Ulterio Motiv unveils Jeep Gladiator-based Maximus 6×6

SA company Ulterio Motiv has revealed the Maximus, a Jeep Gladiator-based 6×6 beast.

South African company Ulterio Motiv has whipped the wraps off the Maximus, a large-and-in-charge specialist 6×6 Jeep Gladiator-based conversion. Said Alex Shahini, Jeep Brand Communications Manager, “Projects such as the Maximus 6×6 highlight the versatility of the Gladiator platform and the enthusiasm it inspires within the wider off-road community.”

According to Ulterio Motiv, sister company of vehicle armouring specialists SVI Engineering, the Maximus 6×6 incorporates significant structural and mechanicl modifications beyond a conventional accessory package. In addition to the integration of a third axle, modifications include chassis and body extensions, and revised drivetrain componentry and gearing. The Maximus 6×6 also boasts an upgraded payload capacity – up 397 kg over the “standard” Gladiator to 1 090 kg – while gross vehicle mass (GVM) has increased to 3 490 kg (up 555 kg).

Customers can also specify a selection of additional upgrades, including for suspension, wheels, tyres, and brakes. Performance packages are also on offer. Suspension upgrades include a 6.0-inch (152.4 mm) lift via Teraflex coil springs, Skyrocker 2.0 Reservoir shocks, and adjustable control arms. The uprated braking setup features 350 mm front discs and six-piston callipers. Wheel and tyre combinations comprise 17- or 20-inch alloys, shod in either 37-inch all- or mud-terrain tyres.

The Maximus 6×6 employs Jeep’s robust Pentastar 3.6-litre naturally aspirated V6 petrol engine as standard. The V6 unit produces 209 kW and 347 N.m of torque – the former and latter available from 6 400 and 4 400 r/min, respectively. The engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, replete with low-range transfer case. A supercharger upgrade is available.

Maximus 6×6 price in SA

The Maximus 6×6 conversion is priced from R3.5 million. The pricing includes the six-wheel conversion, a suspension lift, revised gearing and steering, upgraded front brakes, and 17-inch alloys fitted with either all- or mud-terrain rubber. Final pricing depends on the chosen specification, optional upgrades, and fitment of additional accessory packages.
