Another day, another award for the Kia EV6 Unplugged Ground display

Kia has achieved another Red Dot Award for an architectural and innovative complex which showcases the EV6. The cultural space is titled ‘EV6 Unplugged Ground’ and allows for people to experience the EV model in imaginative ways.

The display portrays the Kia brand ‘reborn’ in the EV era.

The display which is located in one of the South Korean capital’s most popular districts, Seongsu portrays a refreshed brand which has firm commitments to a more sustainable and electric future. The locality of the Seoul display was crucial since Seongsu also known as ‘Brooklyn of Korea’, was a formerly industrial area that has morphed into a popular hub of creativity and fashion in recent years.

Seongsu is one of the South Korean capital’s most popular districts.

Ji-Min Kim, Head of Korea Business Strategy Group at Kia stated “The purpose of ‘EV6 Unplugged Ground’ was to convey a message about a new life – recycling, sustainability, future mobility and electric vehicles. We chose Seongsu as it was a neighbourhood that has also been ‘reborn’, much like the Kia brand,”

EV6 Unplugged GroundThe experience immerses people in what Kia envisages the future of mobility to be centred around and creates an unrivalled customer space. This includes test drives and expert product advice in a space akin to that of a world class art gallery with aspects of the EV6 displayed throughout.

While the EV6 itself has managed to score no less than two Red Dot product awards and clench the 2022 European Car of the Year title, the display of the ‘EV6 Unplugged Ground’ was the winning aspect and scooped up the prestigious ‘Best of the Best’ title in Red Dot’s ‘Interior Architecture and Interior Design’ category.

EV6 Unplugged GroundJi-Min Kim further added: “For this space to receive recognition from prestigious design experts at Red Dot is a huge boost for everyone at Kia.” The Red Dot Design Award is one of the oldest and largest global design competitions which was first held in 1955.

The EV6 is unconfirmed for South Africa and despite its award winning presence, our inconsistent power supply would probably mean mediocre sales locally anyways.
