JAC Motors adds new bakkie to the T6 range – pricing and specification

Arriving in South Africa for a second time, JAC Motors has decided to diversify its T6 range with the introduction of the 2,8-litre TDI engine. Here is pricing and specification on the Chinese bakkie.

Launched in 2015, the T6 serves as JAC Motors’ seventh-generation international bakkie which caters to buyers seeking reliable and economical diesel engines. Speaking of which, the 2,8-litre turbo-diesel motor which has just been reintroduced into South Africa churns out 68 kW and 210 N.m. The diesel engine is paired with a five-speed manual transmission in the 4×2 and a six-speed manual transmission in the 4×4 derivative.

“Over the past five years, customer feedback played an important role in our brand’s local growth. We believe that the market’s need for a reliable and economical 2,8-litre turbodiesel engine is one of those examples where we can respond with tried and tested products,” says Karl-Heinz Göbel, CEO of JAC Motors South Africa.

The 2,8-litre engine in the T6 range is capable of 7,9L/100 km in 4×2 guise and 10,5L/100 km with all wheels driven when tested on combined cycles. Built to function as a workhorse, the newcomer has a 900 kg payload and 2 000 kg braked towing mass with 197 mm of ground clearance.

T6 1.9L TDI 4×2 Comfort – R374 900

T6 2.8L TDI 4×4 Lux – R399 900

The official retail prices of the T6 range include the company’s standard 5 year/150 000 km manufacturer’s warranty and 5 year/60 000 km service plan.
