Delta4x4 creates behemoth out of the 2023 VW Amarok

VW recently presented the new and improved Amarok; an on and off-road all-rounder that has been designed and conceived in Germany and Australia but is being produced in South Africa. Delta4x4, One of Germany’s leading off-road tuning companies has just revealed its version of the Amarok... on steroids!

In a series of digital renderings released, Delta4x4 has transformed the upcoming 2023 Volkswagen Amarok into an off-road monster with the tuned version able to tower over the stock vehicle courtesy of a 150 mm body and chassis lift. V6 badges on the render also suggest Delta4x4 plans to focus on the six-cylinder version of the Amarok.

As a cousin model to the Ford Ranger, the new Volkswagen Amarok not only borrows its platform from the Blue Oval but also shares its 3,0-litre turbo-diesel V6 engine, which produces up to 184 kW of power. Like the Ford Ranger, the diesel V6 will be paired with a 10-speed torque converter automatic transmission, transmitting power to all four wheels.

It’s clear the Amarok’s standard wheels have been replaced with a larger set from the Delta4x4 stable. To assist with increased clearance, the vehicle is equipped with 35-inch BF Goodrich all-terrain tyres wrapped around 18 x 9-inch Hanma wheels. To make things a bit more utilitarian, there are a couple of lightbars located at the front top of the bull bar and in front of the roof rack. The top mount storage features a shovel, a BFGoodrich spare wheel and a small utility box. The 2023 delta4x4 Amarok Mk2 is equipped with top-level items you might need in the wilderness.

The off-road capability has also been improved on the upcoming stock Amarok and the fording depth for driving through water has increased from 500 to 800 mm. Thanks to the now shorter bodywork overhangs, the off-road qualities have also been improved by optimised approach angles

Featuring a charismatic Volkswagen design, the exterior of the Volkswagen bakkie has a very powerful look. “For the new generation, we have significantly modified the Volkswagen Amarok’s archetypal design. It is now unambiguously more expressive and even more impressive”, says Albert Kirzinger, Head of Design at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, summarising the design.

Delta4x4 hasn’t started working on the actual vehicle yet but we expect to learn more about their version of the VW Amarok AKA “The Beast 2.0” as we approach its market launch next year.
