BMW M GmbH has confirmed the addition of a Touring variant to the esteemed BMW M5 lineup. Building upon the legacy established by the first BMW M5 Touring introduced in 1992, this new edition aims to combine outstanding high-performance capabilities with practicality for everyday use. The Touring offshoot of the M5 will embody M-typical performance, superior driving dynamics, and impressive spaciousness, catering to the needs of discerning drivers.

Both the BMW M5 Sedan and Touring variant will feature an advanced partially electrified drive system. Dirk Häcker, Head of Development at BMW M GmbH, has emphasized the integration of a hybrid drive system with typical M performance in various high-performance models. Rumours are suggesting that the hybrid S68 engine could potentially deliver power outputs of around 520 kW for sultry estate car.

In the coming days, prototypes of the 5 Series Touring will undergo extensive testing in various environments, including urban traffic, country roads, and motorways in and around Munich. Additionally, rigorous testing will be conducted at the renowned Nürburgring’s Nordschleife, ensuring an optimal balance between impressive sporting performance on the racetrack and superior ride comfort during everyday driving and long journeys.
