Porsches 911 Carrera GTS Le Mans celebrates famed endurance race

Porsche has introduced a special edition of its legendary 911 model called the 911 Carrera GTS Le Mans Centenaire Edition which pays hommage to the brands winning models from the iconic endurance race.

This exclusive model has been designed to honour the centenary of the 24 Hours of Le Mans race and commemorate Porsche’s historical association with the renowned Circuit de la Sarthe.

The 911 Carrera GTS Le Mans Centenaire Edition takes inspiration from two previous winning vehicles, namely the Porsche 356 SL and the 911 GT1 ’98. By incorporating elements from their designs, Porsche has created a contemporary sports car that will only be available in the French market.

This special edition 911 boasts several unique design details. For instance, the rear lid grille features a badge with the “24h Le Mans” logo and a laurel wreath design, serving as a reminder of the endurance classic. Additionally, a high-quality badge on the B-pillar showcases the outline of the Le Mans race track in the colours of the French tricolour, along with anniversary lettering. Another distinctive feature is the “Born in Le Mans, Manufactured in Zuffenhausen” decorative decal on the rear end, emphasizing the collaboration between different locations.

The exterior of the Centenaire Edition model reflects elements of the 356 SL in a modern interpretation. The exclusive Le Mans Silver Metallic (7SD) exterior colour, which pays homage to the first 24 Hours of Le Mans winner, has been specially reissued for this bespoke offshoot. The starting number “46,” reminiscent of the 1951 victory, is also displayed on the exterior. Inside the car, the Graphite Blue leather and Graphite Blue corduroy used in the historic racing car have been incorporated into the bucket seats of the modern 911 Carrera GTS.

Drawing inspiration from the 911 GT1 ’98, the edition model features Aurum-painted rims with a Le Mans Silver Metallic fine line. The rear side windows are adorned with a Black decorative decor, creating the visual impression of air outlets reminiscent of the winning racing car. Furthermore, the red seat belts pay homage to the 911 GT1 ’98.
