Chery and Zhimi Technology have just pulled the wraps off the iCar V23, an off-road electric vehicle making its debut in China. According to Chery, this compact SUV will deliver an electrifying experience off the beaten path and it marks a significant collaboration between Chery and Zhimi Technology, a subsidiary of Xiaomi known for its expertise in smart home appliances and now, new energy vehicles.
Crafted with off-road adventures in mind, the iCar V23 offers two drive options, single-motor rear-wheel drive and dual-motor four-wheel drive. Powering this vehicle are battery packs sourced from CATL, providing a cruising range spanning from 400 km to 500 km. While detailed specifications regarding the powertrain and batteries are yet to be revealed, the iCar V23 measures 4 220 millimetres in length, 1 915 millimetres in width, and 1 845 millimetres in height with a wheelbase of 2730 mm, presenting a compact yet substantial frame for its off-road prowess.
Notably, it boasts an approach angle of 43 degrees and a departure angle of 41 degrees. For those opting for the four-wheel drive variant, a minimum ground clearance of 212 mm ensures tackling rough terrains with ease.

The design language of the iCar V23 exudes a rugged charm, drawing inspiration from iconic off-roaders such as the Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon and Land Rover Defender while its size has it around 300 mm longer than the 5-door Jimny. This styling is courtesy of a boxy silhouette, round headlights, a raised front bonnet, beefy bumpers, and bulging fenders. Adding to its practicality, the iCar V23 features an external rear box for additional storage, alongside hidden illuminated door handles, roof luggage racks, side steps, and pedal-shape rims available in 19-inch and 21-inch sizes.
While more details regarding the iCar V23 are slated for disclosure closer to its official market launch, one burning question remains, will Chery consider offering this off-road marvel beyond the borders of China?
