Cape Town Cement Truck Slams Into 17 Cars Miraculously Without Fatalities

A chaotic scene unfolded in Cape Town as a cement truck, reportedly having lost its brakes, ploughed into 17 vehicles on Kloof Nek Road. CCTV footage of the incident has surfaced, showing the truck speeding down the hill and smashing into several cars, including a recently launched 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan R.

The video, shared on X by ‘The Instigator’ on Sunday afternoon, captured the terrifying moment the cement truck first hit a red Kia Picanto. Despite the driver’s apparent attempts to avoid the collision by swerving into oncoming traffic, the situation quickly worsened. After striking the Kia, the truck barreled into a row of parked vehicles, including the freshly debuted white Tiguan. It wasn’t until the truck collided with a nearby wall that it came to a complete stop.

According to Cape Town etc, emergency services quickly responded to the scene, with Western Cape Health Department spokesperson Byron la Hoe confirming that four people were injured in the crash. Two patients were taken to Groote Schuur Hospital and Chris Barnard Memorial Hospital, where they were treated for serious injuries. Another two individuals with milder injuries were admitted to New Somerset Hospital.

The footage of the incident has sparked widespread attention online, with many expressing relief that the crash, despite the severity, didn’t result in more serious casualties. However, for those involved, including the unfortunate owner of the brand-new Tiguan, the aftermath will be an unforgettable ordeal. Cape Town authorities are continuing their investigation into the cause of the crash.
