Fiat SA Freshens Up 500 Range For 2024 – Pricing

Fiat has simplified the product range of the popular 500 in South Africa. Here is pricing and some specification of the compact hatchback.

The 2024 Fiat hatchback remains an icon of urban mobility with 67 years of history and the hatchback lineup has undergone a mild restructuring to further increase its appeal. Three iterations will be on offer, the 500 Base, 500 Style, and 500 Style Cab, all of which feature Fiat’s 1.2-litre engine paired with a five-speed MTA transmission that delivers 51 kW and 102 N.m to the front wheels only. In terms of aesthetics, the exterior continues to pay homage to its roots, while the interior adds some convenience and tech in the form of a seven-inch touchscreen with Uconnect, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.

“Fiat 500 is as important to South Africa as it is iconic to FIAT and the world,” says Stellantis South Africa Managing Director, Mike Whitfield. “It has captured the imaginations of fashionable urbanites on the move across multiple sectors of the market.”

On the safety front, the compact model now arrives with seven airbags,  Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill Holder and speed limit assistance as standard. Fiat further claims that the ICE-powered model can achieve a fuel consumption as impressive as 4.8L/100km.

The Fiat 500’s legacy, beginning in 1957, is enriched by three distinct generations. The first established it as a symbol of post-war mobility and Italian ingenuity to serve as a vehicle for the people. The second generation in 2007 revived the retro styling of its antecedent, and the 2020 launch of the 500e has further sought to modernise sustainable city driving. More than 7.5 million units have been sold worldwide, cementing the 500’s status as a cultural icon.
