Limited to just 15 units, the 300 GTC Roadster attests to the coachbuilder’s legacy. While the company has been tight-lipped about the specifics, it is believed to be based on a modern Mercedes-Benz SL platform however the exterior and interior have been completely redesigned to evoke the spirit of the original 300 SL.

The front fascia is a bold and controversial blend of classic and contemporary elements. Round headlights and a modest grille pay homage to the iconic original, while large air intakes and a prominent Saoutchik emblem add a touch of modernity. The bulbous wheel arches are a signature feature, reminiscent of the 300 SL’s muscular stance.

Moving to the sides, the 300 GTC Roadster showcases a series of classic Mercedes-Benz design cues. Chrome-finished vents behind the front wheels and massive 22-inch wheels are a nod to the past, while the rear features bespoke arches, a unique tailgate, and subtle LED taillights.

The interior, though not fully revealed, appears to be a mix of modern Mercedes-Benz components. While it is distinct from the current SL, it is likely based on an older model. Given the limited number of detailed renderings available, it will likely be some time before the Saoutchik 300 GTC Roadster can be seen in person. Pricing for this exclusive model remains a mystery, but it is expected to be substantial.

The chrome-filled and blinged-out model will be sure to divide opinion but the French coachbuilder believes that the modernised iteration of the iconic 300 SL blends a sense of nostalgia with modern performance and luxury.
