In the question-and-answer session, we asked Renault South Africa about the possibility of the Bigster (seen here donning the ‘Dacia’ badge) being introduced to the South African market. The answer? Well, the local arm of the French firm said that the new Duster’s seven-seater sibling will, indeed, form part of its expanding South African model line-up, with the Bigster “probably” arriving here late in 2026.

Based on the same underpinnings — Renault’s CMF-B platform — as the Duster, the Bigster’s larger bodywork measures 4 570 mm in length (230 mm more than the Duster) and 1 810 mm in width, which matches the width of the Duster. Compared to the latter model, the Bigster’s wheelbase measures 50 mm more at 2 700 mm.

Stepping inside, the Bigster’s dashboard is dominated by a 10.1-inch, touch-enabled infotainment display, replete with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto screen mirroring, and satellite navigation. A six-speaker Arkamys sound system is also present. Sited fore the car’s multifunction steering wheel, the digital instrument binnacle is available in two sizes (depending on variant) — 7.0 or 10.0 inches. Renault claims a luggage capacity of “up to” 667 litres.

The automaker says the Bigster will employ a fully hybrid powertrain. As such, we expect the local Bigster derivatives to employ the company’s ‘HYBRID 155’ petrol-electric setup, which comprises a four-cylinder petrol engine and a duo of electric motors, coupled with a 1.4 kWh, 230 V battery pack. In terms of pricing, nothing official has been stated by Renault South Africa but based on foreign markets and its size differential, it is expected to come in at a higher price than the third-generation Duster.
