Touted to offer supercar levels of performance, Hennessey has unleashed the Super Venom Mustang. Only 91 examples — to commemorate the Texas-based company’s 91st anniversary — will be made. Based on the Ford Mustang Dark Horse, the Super Venom Mustang employs a reworked version of Ford’s familiar Coyote motor. For the limited edition, the 5.0-litre naturally aspirated V8 has been equipped with a high-performance supercharger, a high-flow air induction system and Hennessey’s engine management system.

The result is peak power and torque outputs of 633 kW and 881 N.m, the latter of which available from 4 900 r/min. According to the US firm, these figures allow for a 0-96.5 km/h (0-60 mph) sprint time of only 3.2 seconds.

In addition to the engine upgrades, the Super Venom Mustang also adopts Hennessey’s VenomAero system, which comprises a variety of carbon-fibre aerodynamic elements. The latter includes a ‘Goose-neck’ rear wing and new front splitter.

As a reminder, compared to the standard US model’s 372 kW/567 N.m, the South African-spec Mustang Dark Horse is endowed with 334 kW and 540 N.m of torque for a claimed 0-100 km/h sprint time of 4.4 seconds. The Dark Horse tops out at 267 km/h. In terms of local availability, no statement on whether right hand drive units will be created yet…

Said Nathan Malinick, Hennessey’s Director of Design:

“We worked hard to celebrate the esteemed Mustang bloodline with the design of our Super Venom. With a unique interior and track-focused enhancements outside we recognise the iconic muscle car’s sporting heritage alongside that of Hennessey Performance.”
