Recently, Ford South Africa announced major changes for the 2026 Ranger lineup. However, the Ranger isn’t the only Blue Oval product that will receive revisions for 2026. Indeed, the Everest portfolio will also be updated for the new year. This includes the addition of a new engine option, specification updates, and the introduction of the Active derivative, which will replace the XLT as the new entry-level model in the local Everest range.

Available with the choice of 4×2 and 4×4 drivetrains, and exclusively coupled with Ford’s 10-speed automatic transmission, Active models will employ the carmaker’s single-turbo (SiT) 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine, which has been upgraded with the fitment of a new timing chain. The SiT unit produces 125 kW an 405 N.m of torque. As a reminder, Ford SA will discontinue the 154 kW/500 N.m 2.0-litre bi-turbo (BiT) diesel unit for the 2026 lineup.

The Wildtrak and Platinum derivatives retain the currently employed 184 kW/600 N.m 3.0-litre V6 diesel. The Sport variant, which currently employs the outgoing BiT unit, will also gain this powerplant. The Sport will also adopt Ford’s EcoBoost 2.3-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged petrol motor, which was recently introduced to the Ranger-based Volkswagen Amarok. The EcoBoost unit produces 222 kW and 452 N.m, and is exclusively coupled with a 4×2 drivetrain.

Across the entire range, each model will receive enhanced standard specification. More details and pricing will be announced closer to the launch date in the first half of 2026.

“The current Ford Everest, which was launched in 2022, has established a revered reputation for unrivalled comfort, space, versatility, safety, connectivity, performance and all-terrain capability in its segment. With the updates we will be introducing next year, the Everest gains further traction in each one of these areas,” said Sunil Sewmohan, Director of Product Marketing at Ford SA.
