Every Chinese car confirmed for SA in 2026 [Update]
Ranging from compact crossovers to SUVs and bakkies, we’ve rounded up all the Chinese cars that’s still to make their way to South Africa in 2026.
BYD

Including the expansion of this Chinese manufacturer’s local dealership footprint and the introduction of its luxury sub-brand, Denza, BYD is set to broaden the appeal of its SA product portfolio with the Atto 2 (pictured here), while strengthening its current Sealion model offering – which includes the Sealion 5 and Sealion 6, and the Sealion 7 – with the Sealion 8 plug-in hybrid (PHEV).

Chery

Chery will enter the local bakkie segment with the Himla, which we sampled for a first drive in China. However, the Wuhu automaker has confirmed to CAR that it is pushing hard to launch the KP31, scheduled to arrive here in early 2027, before the end of 2026. The Tiggo V “transformable” SUV/bakkie (pictured here) will also arrive here this year. There is also the likelihood that our market will receive the company’s Toyota Land Cruiser Prado-rivalling 9L SUV.

Deepal
Deepal, the luxury new-energy vehicle arm of Chinese automaker Changan, will introduce the S05 REEV (range-extended electric vehicle) to our market in 2026.

Denza

BYD luxury sub-brand Denza is looking to cause a stir in the local SUV segment with the introduction of the B5 and B8. Mechanically related to the Shark 6 bakkie, the B5 (pictured here) employs a PHEV powertrain comprising a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder turbopetrol internal combustion engine (ICE) and a duo of electric motors. The B5 is endowed with a combined system output of 505 kW and 760 N.m of torque. The Denza B5’s larger sibling, the B8, is powered by a 2.0-litre PHEV powertrain with a peak power output of 550 kW.

Dongfeng

Dongfeng South Africa, whose first and main showroom is Dongfeng Pretoria, will look to expand its local footprint with models such as the sleek-looking 007 sedan and 06 all-electric compact SUV. Also on the horizon for our market are the Friday luxury SUV and the M-Hero (pictured here). While an all-electric derivative of the latter is available overseas, the Dongfeng M-Hero will launch in SA in 600 kW/1 050 N.m PHEV format.

GAC
In 2026, GAC will launch a duo of new SUVs in our market. These come in the form of the Yion i60 and Yue 7.

Geely
Geely SA’s product roadmap for 2026 includes the introduction of the Geometry E22H, a compact hatchback that competes against the likes of the BYD Dolphin Surf, which is one of the most affordable EVs in SA. Also on the cards for our market, the Coolray compact crossover and Monjaro midsize SUV employ 1.5- and 2.0-litre ICE powertrains, respectively. Although unconfirmed, we won’t be surprised if the Galaxy Cruiser adventure SUV joins the firm’s local portfolio down the line.

Riddara

Also touted to be marketed via Geely’s local network is the Riddara RD6 all-electric bakkie. The RD6 will initially be offered with two powertrains: RWD single motor and AWD twin motor, which produces 200 kW/348 N.m and 315 kW/595 N.m, respectively.

Haval
In 2026, Haval SA will look to consolidate its strong market position with the introduction of Jolion Max in the second half of the year, the H7 Plus in September 2026, and second-generation H9.

Set to join the T03 in iCAUR’s local model offensive, the V23, of which we’ve had a first look, and V27 large SUV.

JAC
In the first half of 2026, JAC Motors will introduce a PHEV powertrain option to its T9 bakkie range, before launching the T9-based JS9 adventure SUV in our market.

Jaecoo

Scheduled to join the Jaecoo J5 lineup in July 2026, the J5 hybrid is equipped with the Chinese automaker’s SHS (Super Hybrid System), which pairs a 1.5-litre turbopetrol with a single electric motor. According to the firm, the new-energy J5 will offer a combined operating range of over 1 000 km. In the third quarter of the year, the hybrid J5 will be joined by an all-electric J5 derivative.

Jetour
Currently comprising the increasingly popular T1 and T2 compact SUVs – the latter of which we sampled in Cape Town in March 2026 – Jetour SA will bolster its T model lineup with the introduction of the T5 PHEV SUV. Also planned for our market is the P5 double-cab bakkie. The firm is also set to introduce new-energy powertrain options to the X70 Plus and Dashing.

JMC

In 2026, JMC will expand its local bakkie lineup with the introduction of the Grand Avenue.

Leapmotor
Backed by Stellantis, Chinese brand Leapmotor will introduce the T03 compact hatchback to our shores. Similar in size to the Fiat 500, the all-electric city car has a claimed range of 265 km. The B10 midsize SUV, in EV and REEV formats, has also been confirmed for our market, along with an all-wheel-drive version of the C10 REEV, which we sampled in 2025.

Lepas
Set to join the L4 in Chery sub-brand Lepas’ local lineup, the L6 midsize SUV and L8 flagship SUV will arrive in SA in 2026.

Omoda

Unveiled in 2025, the strikingly-styled Omoda C4 (pictured here) has been confirmed for SA in the third quarter of 2026. Before the latter model’s introduction, the C5 SHS hybrid will launch in our market in March 2026. The new-energy C5’s petrol-electric powertrain produces 165 kW and 310 N.m, and offers a claimed combined driving range of 1 000 km.

Ora

GWM will introduce a new model from its Ora sub-brand to SA in 2026. The Ora 5 compact SUV will be available with the choice of three powertrains: petrol-only, hybrid and all-electric.
