To relive the excitement of the historic Freccia Rossa (‘Red Arrow’) re-enactment, Alfa Romeo has been sharing the best shots from the race on its official social media channels and Press website. The coverage began with images from the first stage, which kicked off from Brescia’s Via Venezia and ended in Turin, marking the first return to this city in 76 years. The convoy of vintage cars passed through Palazzolo sull’Oglio, Bergamo, Novara, and Vercelli, receiving warm welcomes from crowds that packed the charming, historic streets and squares along the route. The official Alfa Romeo team featured two vintage cars in the race – the 1900 Sport Spider (1954) with the renowned driver Nicola Larini behind the wheel, and the 1900 Super Sprint (1956) – alongside current models like the new Junior compact sports car and the exclusive Giulia and Stelvio Quadrifoglio Super Sport.

The “travelling museum unique in the world,” as Enzo Ferrari once described it, set off from Turin on the second leg and began its descent southwards. The convoy first climbed the Langhe, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, passing through the centre of Acqui Terme, which was proclaimed “European City of Wine” in 2024. The journey continued to Genoa, an ancient maritime republic and now a vibrant, contemporary city, named European Capital of Sport 2024. Stage 2 photos capture the convoy’s stop in Genoa before it continued through Rapallo, La Spezia, and Massa, finally arriving at the magnificent seafront in Viareggio.

Stage 3 of the 1000 Miglia set its sights on Rome. Starting from Viareggio, the convoy veered inland, passing through Lucca, Pontedera, Rosignano Marittimo, Bibbona, and Castagneto Carducci before reaching Castiglione della Pescaia, a gem offering a stunning blend of sea, nature, and history. In the afternoon, the race entered Lazio via Marta, a fishing village on the southern shores of Lake Bolsena, Europe’s largest volcanic lake, and later passed through Ronciglione, renowned for its Carnival and recently named the most beautiful village in Italy.

The journey culminated in Rome, the only fitting destination for what is often called the most beautiful race in the world. The convoy’s arrival on Via Veneto was a grand celebration, with Alfa Romeo’s cars being immortalized by the smartphones of eager fans. It was a scene reminiscent of the 1950s when Alfa Romeos escorted stars and actors through the glittering nights of the Dolce Vita, captured by the flashbulbs of paparazzi.
