Gone are the days of speculations about electrified versions of existing models like the 488 or 812. Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna has confirmed a completely new design, a “full-electric special” according to a Reuters source, distinct from anything currently in their lineup. Expect a futuristic silhouette that embodies the essence of a Ferrari, constructed with lightweight materials to optimize performance.

Adding fuel to the fire, spy photos captured by Derek Cornelissen reveal a heavily disguised test mule undergoing testing in Maranello, Ferrari’s home base. The oddly disguised prototype resembles an oversized hatchback. While the body appears to be a modified Maserati Levante, it intriguingly sports headlights borrowed from the Ferrari Roma. New alloy wheels, possibly missing their aerodynamic covers, further distinguish the test vehicle.

The Ferrari EV represents a significant turning point for the Prancing Horse. While some may scoff at the idea of an electric Ferrari, the company assures us this new chapter won’t compromise its core values. “We will be Ferrari, even in electric,” declared Vigna. Only time will tell if this electrifying stallion can measure up to the legacy of its petrol-powered predecessors.
